Sophisticate
Synopsis
Who chooses what’s enough? Who decides when? This story is about a man who decides when to step in, even if it means taking things a bit too far. The film will show two sides to a similar coin, two men who believe they are righteous. One shows this with words, while the other with action.
This film takes place over the patrons shoulders during a bar fight. Tensions at one table begin to escalate, everyone around is listening, but no one wants to step in. Finally one man has had it and ends the argument full-stop, with one swing of a stool.
Setting…
This is a common midwestern townie bar. Drinks are cheap and not many people show up, the floors might be sticky but it’s a decent place to kill a few hours…
Character touch stone.
I think this show cases the sides of different sorts of townies that I’d like to convey. A silent loner type who thinks he is right about everything and the world is stupid (this less in the video more for our story). Then the loud brash type who always finds himself in trouble (pretty obvious in this). This has a decent visual aesthetic too even though it is doing a bit more then we would.

Main crew on board for project.
We need location locked in still as well as actor and background talent.
Would like to figure put SFX for barstool hit as well a blocking for this shot before hand.
-
Production to happen over a single day on 12/13/25 or 12/14/25.
I would hope to have around 6 hours to shoot it so we can be as diverse with everything as we want, but a project of this scale can really be as small as we need it to be.
-
I would like to discuss a vision for the release of this project and a sort of post process schedule to keep things moving on it.
I think after film multiple of these short-shorts, there could be an opportunity to do a screening of them as a larger grouping.
